Kiev, Ukraine - Memory, prayer, for old and new wars ...

The Community of Sant'Egidio in Kiev remembered the terrible massacre of Babij Yar (September 1941), when the Einsatzgruppen following the German troops that penetrated into the Soviet Union killed tens of thousands of Jews. 

The memory of what happened during World War II associated the prayer for the clashes that continue to claim victims in Eastern Ukraine.

San Salvador, El Salvador - Memory of William Quijano

Yesterday, September 28th, fell the anniversary of the killing of William Quijano, a member of the Community of Sant'Egidio in San Salvador, who was spending daily his life to subtract teenagers and young people to the charm of the violent maras, gangs that cause bloodshed in El Salvador. 

The Sant'Egidio communities in Latin America, in Rome, throughout all the world, remembered him in their prayers.

Brussels, Belgium - Sant'Egidio with civil society to say "Welcome refugees!"

In the early afternoon of Sunday, September 27th, also Sant'Egidio communities of Belgium joined the national demonstration organized by various associations to say "Yes!" to the welcoming of those who are fleeing war, a festive march of about 15,000 people that snaked through the streets of central Brussels. 

Padua, Italy - Feast with Muslim refugees for 'Aid al-Adha

Sant'Egidio is close to the needy among Muslims on the day of 'Aid al-Adha, when the month of pilgrimage to Mecca begins.

The communities of Sant'Egidio in various African countries, Benin, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo, etc., have shared the invocation of peace that men and women of different religions raised to heaven on September 8th in Tirana.
