Hence the idea of helping those who live on the street not only with material support, with concrete assistance, but also by providing to them an art studio inside the welcoming center opened by the Community for homeless friends.

A great party in a city that wants to live afresh! Three new houses has been inaugurated and delivered to elderly people who had lost home due to the terrible passage of Cyclone Idai. 

Cries with joy, thanksgiving songs, a lot of emotion, among those who were at the ceremony. As well the commitment to continue on this path, completing the other houses under construction.

Pope Francis has recently visited the DREAM center in Zimpeto, in Maputo, Mozambique. 

He said on that occasion: "All those who come here, with despair and anguish, are like the man lying on the side of the road. Those of you here have refused to walk by or continue on your way like others (the Levite and the priest). This Centre shows us that there are always people ready to stop and feel compassion, who do not yield to the temptation to say 'There is nothing to be done' or 'It’s impossible to fight this scourge'. Instead, you have set about finding solutions. 

It is the same commitment that is lived in all DREAM centers in Africa.

Many friends of Sant'Egidio, many poor, many residents of the neighborhood, met together last afternoon in Sant Pere de les Puel square for a final farewell to M., a homeless man whom the Community has faithfully visited and helped along the years.

In Gianturco, a Naples suburb, an industrial area, many marginal, homeless people, find a place to stop, chat, cry, be consoled, take a shower, have new clothes, play chess or cards. And in fact A. arrives and says: "Good morning, today I don't have to take a shower, I came to be with you". 

In the welcoming center of Gianturco a forgotten periphery seeks and finds its redemption ....
