93 Syrian and Iraqi refugees (24 families, 41 children) who have obtained a special visa thanks to the innovative experience of the humanitarian corridors landed yesterday at Fiumicino airport from the refugee camps in Lebanon.
The project is the result of an agreement between the Community of Sant'Egidio, the Pope John XXIII Association, the Federation of Italian Protestant Churches, the Waldensian Church and the Italian government.
It is expected to allow a thousand people to reach Europe in a safe way in two years, a pilot initiative in a time of indifference and closure.
