In Ukraine a feeling of sensation and pain aroused for the death of several elderly burnt in a nursing home near the capital city.
The Community of Sant'Egidio in Kiev, that has been visiting for years an elderly house in the city, gathered the elders to pray for the victims. At the same time, in that institution as well in the society, it continues to raise awareness in favor of the possibility for someone who is older and even partially handicapped to stay in his/her own home instead of going to a hospice.
With this aim Sant'Egidio is spreading the "Letter of Maria", a Roman woman one, asking aloud the elderly is given possibility to remain at home along their last years.
