The Community of Sant'Egidio has organized meetings to raise awareness and discussion for the World Day against the death penalty at the Faculty of Law of the University of Houston, Texas.
Witnesses from death row and relatives of the victims - Shujaa Graham, former sentenced to death, Bill Pelke, relative of murder victim, Terry Steinberg, mother of a sentenced man awaiting execution and Dave Atwood, founder of the Texas Coalition against the Death Penalty - met with university students, future lawyers, judges and lawmakers in a westerner country where the death penalty is still a legal option.
